In Sugar Land this is nearly always a remodel rather than a new build. First Colony and Sugar Creek houses are old enough that kitchens and primary bathrooms are being redone all over these neighbourhoods, and a remodel inside an occupied house is messier than construction on an empty lot.
The dust does not stay in the room being worked on. It goes into the return, through the AC, and out into bedrooms at the other end of the house — which is why people are so often surprised to find grey film on a nightstand two doors away from the job.
New tile from a remodel almost always comes with grout haze — a cloudy film left after grouting that looks like the tile is dirty when it is actually coated. It comes off, but not with a normal mop, and leaving it means looking at a dull new floor you just paid for.
